FIGMENT is a free participatory arts event that celebrates creativity by challenging artists and participants to find new ways to create, share, and dream.
FIGMENT is a forum for the creation and display of participatory and interactive art. FIGMENT began in July 2007 as a free, one-day participatory arts event on Governors Island in New York Harbor with more than 2,600 participants. Since then, FIGMENT has hosted projects, fundraisers and exhibitions.
FIGMENT is run 100% by volunteers. It is a gift to the city, to the community and to you. We rely on commitment and participation from volunteers, participants, artists and gift-givers of all sorts. We couldn't do this without you.
FIGMENT, the Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY), and the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) are excited to announce the winning design in the seventh annual City of Dream Pavilion Competition: Oculi by Austin + Mergold in collaboration with Maria Park (Cornell) and consulting engineers Chris Earls (Cornell) and Scott Hughes (Sillman).
