CALL FOR CURATORIAL PROPOSALS

Calls for Curatorial Proposals are now closed for 2011. However, FIGMENT NYC is still looking for Team Curators for FIGMENT Weekend 2011 on Governors Island in New York City!

For the past four years, FIGMENT has provided a forum for the creation and display of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. In 2011, FIGMENT seeks to offer more ways for artists and curators to participate in the event.

For FIGMENT weekend 2011 we are looking for two types of curator:

• TEAM CURATORS, who are looking to curate a number of individual artists and their projects.

• AREA CURATORS, who are looking to curate an “area” – as an Area Curator, you can propose to take on the full curatorial process for a clearly themed and cohesive group of artists and projects of your own choice, taking up a specific physical space on the island throughout FIGMENT Weekend. Calls for Area Curatorial Proposals are now closed for 2011.

PROJECT TIMELINE

• Submissions open: February 1, 2011
• Notification of acceptance: rolling basis, starting March 15, 2011
• Artist Project Installation and setup start: June 6 (dates TBD)
• Installation complete: by June 9, 2011
• FIGMENT Weekend: June 10-12 2011
• De-Installation begins Monday June 13, 2011
• De-Installation complete Thursday June 16, 2011
